I have questions for you before provides any suggestions.

What kind of output files format you want?

Did you want a pps files(made as presentation), a .avi file(make as a movie slide show) or a .flv(made as a flash show)?
- To make a presentation, you should use a tool like ms office powerpoint(shareware) or Powerbullet(freeware). add music in the background. this is the simplest and rough slide show.
- To make a movie slide show, you may use Slide Show Movie Maker as JavyTechGuy recommended. or just use windows movie maker.
- To make a flash slide show, try LiveSwif Lite.

1. Open your movie project in Windows Movie Maker.
2. Make sure the "Tasks" sidebar is shown. You can do this by looking at the toolbar right below the menu bar. One icon will say "Tasks".
  - If there is a box around the icon, you can move onto the next step.
  - If not, then you must click it.
3. Expand the "Finish Movie" step in the task pane if you have not done so already. This will show you the options for exporting your project.
4. Click the "Save to my computer" button. It should be right underneath the heading.
5. Put in a title for your movie, as well as a place to save it. Make sure you know where your movie will be saved, so you don't have to search your computer for it.
6. On the next screen, there will be three options for export quality:
  - Best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)
  - Best fit to file size
  - Other settings
7. Go with the "Other settings" option. In the drop-down list right next to it, there will be an option that says "High quality video (large)". I would recommend using that export setting, as it will give you high quality video in a format you can upload to YouTube
8. Your project will now begin to export. All you need to do is wait for the process to finish.
9. Upload your movie to YouTube.

You want your horror film to really be horror. Since you are making this on Windows Movie Maker, it's best to know not to film the whole movie in one scene (duh). Instead, film it into different scenes and give each scene a specific name you can remember. Make sure they are short and simple so you can carefully arrange them to your liking. Example: Make one scene of someone just screaming or a scene where your just walking through the graveyard. Also, if you have a sound recorder, record some creepy music or hissing sounds. This way, you can add sound to a regular scene.

Idea
1. Develop a plot and storyline before you start filming. While improvising can be compelling, it rarely works in the horror genre.
2. Think of a snappy title! Whether it's "The Haunted Mirror" or "Room 1", make sure it sounds relative to the movie. Example; If your movie is about a ghost trying to possess you, you shouldn't name it "Zombies in the Graveyard". Try something like "Possession" or "Paranormal Brainteaser".
Acting
1. Remember to act like you're really there, and feel your characters emotions. Enhance your screams if you have to, but make it look real.
2. Make it action packed and use props if needed. Also, to make floating objects, attach a really thin string to it so it looks like nothing is holding it. This may take a while, but when its done, it will be worth it.
3. Use a green screen if you have one. This way, you can add backgrounds of places you might not go to (i.e. creepy forest, sewers, etc.)
Editing
1. Add sound effects. Use Sound Recorder if you have it on your computer and make sure you save it.
2. Consider putting scenes in grayscale or slow down action scenes, though you won't be able to do that on Windows Movie Maker. Try something else first before adding it to your collections on Windows Movie Maker.
3. Add titles, change the colors, fonts, animations, etc. You won't be able to do this on Windows Movie Maker either, but you could add transparent, colored paper or plastic. For a fog, you can add some kind of fabric in front of the camera lens or just a grayscale colored transparent type of object. Anything works.

1. Choose your topic and story. For example: Documentary, educational, action, comedy, suspense...etc.
2. Pick out a unique location to film, the location enhances the story of the film, and must have relevance to the film. For example: Do not hold a United Nations conference in your garage, it detracts from the quality and reality of the film.
3. Get your game plan ready and choose the most efficient way of completing the task. If you plan your film well enough, you will not film the clips in successive order, you will film what you need at particular locations. Therefore you may actually film the beginning and end of the movie at one location all at once, to save travel time.
4. When filming, try to get your hands on the best camera possible. For HD filming you are looking at around a 100 dollar camera for your cheapest version. Of course you will not be using the Hollywood 5-10 thousand dollar cameras. Another huge part to filming in a professional way, is to use a tripod. The easiest way for someone to tell if this is low quality is if you use only your hand to film. The TRIPOD IS KEY to making a great movie.
5. Begin filming. Try different camera angles, take multiple takes of a scene and record absolutely everything you do. Sometimes you do things on accident that are either really amazing or otherwise hilarious. If you only have one camera there is a way to get multiple camera angles of one scene. Simply ask your actors to freeze on the spot and then change the angle, begin recording, and ask them to continue. If edited correctly the time lapse is entirely unnoticeable.
  - Certain techniques to filming that one may want to take into account are zooming in, moving shots, field vision…etc. The idea is to give the film variety, use the tripod to your advantage to steadily move the camera on the swivel of the tripod. Zooming in is a very difficult art technique to master. Zooming should be done before you begin recording the scene, unless the particular scene situation calls for zooming in or out. Keep in mind that there is no definitive filming protocol; it is all about the art-form and style that can be your own.
  - One helpful yet optional step is to film only bits at one time, edit it together and continue filming. Filming only parts allows you to see what the final product may look like and then maybe see some changes or improvements that could be made to future footage.
6. Edit. First create a folder, preferably with the movie title as its label. Then copy (DO NOT CUT) files from the camera memory. Then paste the video files in the folder labeled with the movie title.
7. Open up Windows Live Movie Maker and import the files from the folder alluded to before. Your files will be automatically placed in the timeline for you in successive order of the file name. Begin watching your film clips and begin cutting out the unneeded portions of the video, (usually at the beginning of the clip and at the end). It is not a good idea to do any serious editing until your film has been cut to a reasonable amount
8. Now film the rest of your project and repeat the last 2 steps until you have all the parts of the film ready to put together in order. You should now put the clips in order on the timeline so that you may begin the intense editing portion of the film.
9. Choose a single clip and analyze the clip and answer the questions to yourself: Does it need a computerized transition? Is the clip too loud? (by default, the clip will be played at its loudest volume) Is there any special effects that are needed? For example: does it need music, sound effects, slow or fast motion, flashes of light? As a practical purpose most sound effects can be generated with sound to a given sequence of events. If your goal is to create visual special effects such as fire, lightning, explosions, floods…etc. The most effective way to do this is to create a microscopic version of your scene that literally can be affected with such effects, and the key is to formulate the two clips together in such a way that the transition is seen as an overwhelming change of effect, as seen from the first person point of view. (This is the most difficult part of filming).
10. To control the speed of the clip either visual or auditory you will need to click on the desired clip, (mind that audio and video clips are separate) then proceed to the edit menu and in the sub-options one will find a video speed setting which will be set automatically at (1X). You may increase or decrease this value to your liking.
11. Editing: Now you may go through each clip one by one and decide what effects will be needed and what order to put the film. Use the split video tool if you want to cut something away from the video. For precise editing use the two arrows under the preview screen. The arrows are on either side of the play button under the preview screen. These arrows allow you to proceed through the film frame-by-frame. Cutting at exact frames makes the movie flow nicely and professionally.
12. Now you may add transitions between clips. As a tip, do these transitions infrequently and generally when you want to reflect a lapse in time. Otherwise simple changes in video are the best way. The Windows live movie maker offers numerous transitional effects, which is why it is important to be mindful of your over/under use of them. The amounts will very based upon the length of the film, as well as the film type. Action films will generally have fewer transitional effects between scenes than would a documentary. To add a transitional effect, the process is quite simple click on the film clip you wish to transition to (not from) then go to the tool bar at the top and click on animations. Immediately you will see transitions that you may select for the clip. When you click on the transition in the tool bar, the preview screen will show the transition from the previous clip to your selected clip. This makes the process easier and faster to determine which effect to use.
13. When making an amateur film, an intro and credit screen is a good idea. The intro screen or screens set up the film make it look blockbuster worthy. The intro should consist of the title, maybe a narration in the beginning if you wish, (again all depending on the movie type.) You will get a feel for what is acceptable and what is not as you experiment. To create an intro to the film click on the home tab on the top tool bar. In small print next to the snapshot logo, will be a caption named “title,” go ahead and click on this tool. Now at the top tool bar you will have many options as to that you wish your title to consist of. You may change the wording in the text box, the font, the size, the background color, the outline color, and the effect in which you wish the title clip to present itself. Go ahead and experiment with some versions of a title clip. You may add as many title clips as you deem necessary.
14. Credits are essentially the exact same process as the title. Go to the home tab on the tool bar, then under the title caption you will see the credits caption. If you click on the credits tab the process and tool bar layout will be the same. Then you may add your credits as you wish.
15. Now one should add audio to their film (if desired). What should be done here is to first think about what scenes of the film require music or otherwise sound effects i.e.… Gun shots, explosions…etc. Make sure that the format of the music or audio clip is sustainable in Windows Live Movie Maker. Use either a WAV. Or MP3. File format for your audio. Both are compatible with the movie maker. Go to the Home tab on the tool bar and click on it. Within the tab is a caption with the logo of an eighth note labeled, “add music.” Click on the add music tab and search your directory for a song or audio clip that you wish to use. When you finally select your audio clip, the audio will automatically be fitted to the film. You may then drag the audio over to your desired place and have it play during a particular part of the film. As with video clips, you may trim and remove portions of audio clips. Simply click on the audio clip and allow it to play to the point where you wish it to split, and conduct the splitting process the same as you would with a regular film clip.
16. Publishing: Be sure to save the project frequently, especially before publishing the film to the computer. To create the final product you will want to save your movie to your computer. To save the movie, go to the home tab and on the very far right side of the tool bar you will see an icon labeled save movie, you will not want to click directly on the icon, but rather on the words listed below which will bring you to a fold down menu that has an option to save the movie to your computer. I recommend this because you will then always have a master copy that you can publish on the internet or otherwise burn a DVD for. The rendering and publishing process will take a while depending on the length and complexity of the film. More transitions, audio, and credits will take longer for the film to publish.

- 1. Set up a large green cloth on a wall. Make sure the color isn't too dark or bright. It should be a lime sort of green.
  2. Set up your camera either on a tripod or some other kind of support.
  3. Film your movie for however long you like. Remember NOT to wear any clothes with the same green color as your Green Screen.
  4. Insert your camera cable or memory card into your computer. Saving the video to your computer is a good idea, in case you accidentally delete it on your camera.
  5. Open Notepad from the Accessories on the Start Menu.
  6. Copy and paste this code into it.

How to import Pictures into Windows Movie Maker?

1. Open up Windows Live Movie Maker located under the programs menu after going into start.
2. When Windows Live Movie Maker is done loading you will see a large caption in the center left of the screen, and it will say "Click here to browse for videos and photos" (this caption will also have an icon on its right with a small picture and a filmstrip behind it). So you can go ahead and click right on that caption.
3. So now you have a document browser that opens up it will most likely go immediately to a folder named, "pictures," or "My Pictures." If your pictures are located here go ahead and look for all the pictures you want. If you have your pictures elsewhere you can browse other sources such as the desktop, documents, downloads...etc. These are located on the right side of your document browser.
4. Once you see the pictures you want, go ahead and highlight the pictures you want. (When you hold down shift it allows you to highlight multiple pictures and thus import them all at the same time. Once you have selected all your photos click the button that says "open" and the selected pictures will automatically be imported to Windows Live Movie Maker.
5. WIndows Live Movie Maker then puts the pictures in the order in which you selected them. Don't worry if you want them in a different order just simply click and drag your photos in a specific order. (if you dont like a photo, just click on it and hit the delete button on your keyboard. You are now ready to begin the construction of a photo slide.
6. If you want to add more photos to your show than you've already selected. Look at the tool bar at the top of the page on the top left side you will see an icon that says "add videos and photos." If you click this button, it will bring you directly to the document browser so you can search further photos.
7. FOR WINDOWS VISTA USERS- when entering Windows Movie Maker, there will be an option on the top tool bar that says "import" click the import menu and look for the "Import photos," all other steps are exactly the same as Windows Live Movie Maker.

I have a jvc camcorder and have transfered my files to my laptop and I keep getting messages like the files cannot be read. Will movie maker will work?

yes. Windows Movie makers supports MPEG1/.mpeg/.mpg/.m1v/.mp2 imported files.

I have wmm version 2.1 I want to download wmm version 2.6. Can I do so without losing version 2.1 and its collections? Can I have two versions of wmm at the same time on my computer?

Yes, you can have two version of windows movie maker on your computer.

But you don't mention which system operation you're running. Let me guess, you got wmm 2.1, that might be windows xp system. That might take you time to find windows movie maker2.6 for xp. The online download of windows movie make 2.6 is for win 7. Making sure you find a xp one and installed to your computer.
