Follow this instruction to register Microsoft Live:
Open a Web browser and navigate to the Windows Live login page. Click the "Sign Up" button on the left side of the window.
Click the "No, sign me up for a free MSN Hotmail e-mail address" radio button, and then click "Continue."
Select your country using the drop-down menu at the top of the screen, and then enter the user name that you would like to use for Windows Live. Click the "Check Availability" button to make sure that the user name you want is available.
Type the password that you would like to use, and then type it again to make sure that you entered it correctly.
Click the drop-down menu next to "Question," and select the personal question that the Windows Live website should ask if you forget your password. Type the answer to the question.
Type an alternate email address if you would like Windows Live to have an alternate means of contacting you.
Enter your personal information such as your name, gender and date of birth. The name that you select is automatically displayed on messages that you send.
Scroll down to the "Verification" section and type the two words that you see.
Click the "I Accept" button. This creates your Windows Live account. Click the "Continue" button to begin using it.
Log in to your MSN, or Hotmail, email account. Choose "Hotmail" from the top menu bar. Click "Inbox."
Choose "New" from the top menu bar to open a new email message. Add the email address or addresses in the "To" field. Fill in the subject and type a message in the body of the email.
Click "Attachments" under the "Subject" box. Choose the location of the song you wish to email from the drop menu. Choose the song and double click the song file to attach. Once completed the file will appear under "Attachment." Click "Send" when completed.
Go to the "MSN" website. Click "Sign In"At the top right corner of the page. Where it says "Don't have a Windows Live ID?" click the "Sign Up" button.
Create a new username for your new address. When you see "Use your email address," click the "Or get a Windows Live email address" hyperlink underneath. Type in your new Windows ID user name and then use the drop-down menu to choose "live" or "hotmail" for your email mailbox.
Choose and create a password. Your password must be at least six characters long. Then type in a different email address for an alternate way of contact. Type in your name, country, state, zip code, year of birth and gender. Then type in the security code and click "I Accept" and your email application is complete.
Click the "Sign In" link in the top-right corner of the page.
Type your username and password in the fields on the page that appears. Click the "Sign In" button. If you are able to log in, it is a good sign that the hacker did not change your password.
Check Content
Launch a browser and go to the MSN site, click the "Sign In" link in the top-right corner of the page and type your username and password in the fields on the page that appears. Click the "Sign In" button.
Check to see if the city at the top of the page is the city that you designated for weather and local news. If it is not, someone has changed it.
Click the "More" menu bar link and choose "My MSN." Check to see if the content modules on the page are the way that you have had them arranged.
Check Hotmail
Launch a browser and go to the MSN site, click the "Sign In" link in the top-right corner of the page and type your username and password in the fields on the page that appears. Click the "Sign In" button.
Click the "Hotmail" link in the top-left corner of the page.
Check to see if any new messages are plain text instead of bold that signifies new mail. If there are new messages that are not bold, then it means someone has clicked them and read the content.
Check to make sure your messages are arranged in the same way and in the same folders as you left them. If messages are missing or in different folders, then there is good reason to believe someone has moved them.
Log into your MSN email account and click "Hotmail" to view your inbox.
Click the "Options" drop-down menu on the top right, adjacent to the "Profile" link.
Choose "More Options..." from the drop-down menu.
Click the "Exporting Contacts" link, located under the "Customizing your contacts" section.
Type the letters that correspond to the 8-character security word displayed in the box. Click "Export." A "WLMContacts.csv" file will begin downloading to your system.
Right-click the downloaded "WLMContacts.csv" file and choose to open it with MS Excel. The document contains a list of all your backed-up MSN email contacts
MSN Email
Download a third-party MSN-backup application of your choice.
Launch the downloaded application or plug-in. For example, the following steps work for the "Backup4all" application.
Log into your MSN account, click the "Tools" menu and choose "Plugins." Click "Add" and select the "MSN_Messenger.xml" file. Click "Open."
Launch the downloaded "Backup4all" application, click "File" and choose the "New Backup Wizard" option.
Enter a name for the backup file in the "Name" text field. Choose "MSN Messenger" from the "Predefined Backup" drop-down menu and click "Next." The "Sources" page opens.
Check the items you wish to back up (for example, email messages, conversations or contacts) and click "Next." The "Destination" page opens.
Choose a location within your computer where you wish to save the backup file, then click "Next." The "Type" page displays for you to choose a type of backup.
Select "Full" or "Mirror" and click "Finish." Click the "Backup" button to begin the process.
Touch the "Applications" launcher arrow, then touch the "Email" icon from the list that is displayed. If you haven't used the email application previously, the set up screen will automatically display. Otherwise, touch "Menu," then touch "Add Account."
Touch the "Email Address" field, then type your full MSN email address into the field. Touch the "Password" field and type in your password. Touch "Next." The wizard will attempt to retrieve your email settings. If you receive an error message, the "Incoming Server" screen will display.
Select "POP" from the drop down box beneath "Protocol." Enter your email address, user name and password in the designated fields. Enter "pop3.live.com" in the "POP Server" field. Enter "995" in the "Server Port" field. Touch "Next" to enter outgoing server settings.
Enter your user name and password in the designated fields. Enter "smtp.live.com" in the "SMTP Server" field. Enter "587" in the "Server Port" field. Touch "Next."
Enter an account name in the "Account Name" field, if desired. Enter your name in the "Your Name" field. Touch "Finish Setup" to complete setup.
Visit the Windows Live "Administration Center." Click "Get Started" under "Custom Domains."
Fill in the custom URL you want. Click "I Need to Purchase a Domain" if you do not have a URL already. Choose one of Window's Live domain partner providers and enter the domain you want, to see if it is available. Fill in your credit card information and confirm the purchase.
Enter the URL in the box on the custom domain screen after purchasing. Choose if you want Hotmail or no email linked to your page. Review the setting and click "Confirm" if correct. Your URL will then be linked to your MSN page.
Connect to the Internet, be it at your home with the service you used to replace Verizon or on a public computer at a library, Internet café or elsewhere. Open a Web browser, such Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome.
Point the browser to the same address you used to access your MSN inbox when you had Verizon DSL. If you accessed your MSN inbox via Microsoft Outlook or aren't sure of the address, visit accountservices.msn.com.
Input your MSN email address and password and click "Sign In." Manage your email inbox as you normally would.
Turn your computer on. Once Windows loads, click "Start," "All Programs" and click your Web browser.
Click the address bar until the website name is highlighted. This takes either one or three quick clicks. Type "MSN.com" into the address bar and ensure it replaces the address for your current website. Hit "Enter."
Click "Sign in" in the top right corner of MSN's home page under "Welcome to MSN." If MSN doesn't already display your Windows Live ID, type it in the first box and enter your password in the second box. Click "Sign in" and you'll be redirected to the MSN home page.
Click either "Hotmail," "Messenger," or "My MSN" in the home page's upper-left corner to access your account's features.
Windows Live Messenger
Turn your computer on and wait while your operating system loads. If the computer has multiple user accounts, sign in to yours.
Click the "Start" orb and "All Programs." Find and select "Windows Live Messenger." The sign in page for the program looks very similar to the sign in page on MSN.com.
Enter your Windows Live ID and password. Click "Sign in" and wait while Messenger connects.
Navigate to your personal email account's home page.
Enter in your log-in information. Most Web sites ask for a username and password.
Click the "log in" or "sign in" button after you have entered the required information. You should now be at the "Home" page of your personal email account.
Open a Web browser and navigate to the "My MSN" website at my.msn.com. Alternatively, click "My MSN" in the upper-left corner of the main MSN website at msn.com.
Click "Sign In" in the upper-right corner of the My MSN page. You'll be taken to a Windows Live sign-in page.
Enter your Windows Live ID and password. Check the box next to "Remember My Password" if you want to skip the sign-in process in the future.
Click "Sign In." Your customizable My MSN homepage loads.
