Why does my VGA cable go from the monitor to the motherboard?

09/02/2011 01:58 by wawaslope

Surely most computers have their graphics card connected to the monitor. I currently am only using a standard PCI graphics card. Would this cable work if i removed it from the motherboard and connected it to a new graphics card?

  • Your motherboard has a built-in Video Card. If you have a new PCI Slot Graphics Card and it accepts VGA connections then yes you can unplug it from your onboard motherboard card and plug it into the new PCIGraphics Card. During your computers POST it will detect where you have a monitor plugged in.
