  • Winrar is the best size solution.
    Over 500 million users world-wide make WinRAR the worlds's most popular compression tool today.
    There is no better way to compress files for efficient and secure file transfer, faster e-mail transmission and well organized data storage.
    WinRAR supports all popular compression formats (RAR, ZIP, CAB, ARJ, LZH, ACE, TAR, GZip, UUE, ISO, BZIP2, Z and 7-Zip).
    If you're looking for compression levels and overall performance then winrar is probably a good choice.

  • 7-Zip
    7-Zip is the winner for its superior speed, support for multiple archive formats and its features missing some of which even missing from some commercial utilities.
    7-Zip Supported formats: Packing / unpacking: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR;
    It unpacks RAR, CAB, ISO, ARJ, LZH, CHM, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB and NSIS. For ZIP and GZIP formats (includes GZ).
    High compression ratio in new 7z format with LZMA compression provides compression ratio that is 2-10 % better than ratio provided by WinZip.

  • I perfect Winzip.
    If you're looking for compatability for users, I'd use Winzip. Winzip is by far the most popular form of file compression on the net. So if you're making a compressed file to share with other people, use Winzip. If the compressed file is for you, use Winrar. I am of course talking about the different compression formats, not the programs themselves.

  • 7-Zip
    Pros:  Easy to install, gives meaningful error messages and aslo suggestion for repairing, capable of uncompressing from multiple embedded files.
    Cons: User interface is minimalistic.

    IZArc
    Pros: Handles nearly 50 different compression formats.
    Cons: Large file download and memory footprint, the installer is bundled with other program. And it will change the default opening program of your rar files without telling you.

  • As from my experience I would suggest 7Zip. I have been using this compression utility since from very long. This has always given me the satisfactorily result. Beside advance technology, 7Zip download(http://www.7-zipdownload.org) is also freely available. In comparison to the above definately 7-Zip is best.

  • Winrar has a very good compression ration with .rar and .zip files. It's perfect to share files on websites. 7z is also a very good archiver. 7z has the best compression ratio with .7z files. Some files can be compressed to 10% of their original size. IZarc is a good archiver for multiple compression formats but it lacks .rar files compression.
