  • Winrar is the best size solution.
Over 500 million users world-wide make WinRAR the worlds's most popular compression tool today.
There is no better way to compress files for efficient and secure file transfer, faster e-mail transmission and well organized data storage.
WinRAR supports all popular compression formats (RAR, ZIP, CAB, ARJ, LZH, ACE, TAR, GZip, UUE, ISO, BZIP2, Z and 7-Zip).
If you're looking for compression levels and overall performance then winrar is probably a good choice.

  • 7-Zip
7-Zip is the winner for its superior speed, support for multiple archive formats and its features missing some of which even missing from some commercial utilities.
    7-Zip Supported formats: Packing / unpacking: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR;
It unpacks RAR, CAB, ISO, ARJ, LZH, CHM, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB and NSIS. For ZIP and GZIP formats (includes GZ).
High compression ratio in new 7z format with LZMA compression provides compression ratio that is 2-10 % better than ratio provided by WinZip.

  • I perfect Winzip.
If you're looking for compatability for users, I'd use Winzip. Winzip is by far the most popular form of file compression on the net. So if you're making a compressed file to share with other people, use Winzip. If the compressed file is for you, use Winrar. I am of course talking about the different compression formats, not the programs themselves.

  • 7-Zip
Pros:  Easy to install, gives meaningful error messages and aslo suggestion for repairing, capable of uncompressing from multiple embedded files.
    Cons: User interface is minimalistic.

Pros: Handles nearly 50 different compression formats.
Cons: Large file download and memory footprint, the installer is bundled with other program. And it will change the default opening program of your rar files without telling you.

  • As from my experience I would suggest 7Zip. I have been using this compression utility since from very long. This has always given me the satisfactorily result. Beside advance technology, 7Zip download( is also freely available. In comparison to the above definately 7-Zip is best.

  • Winrar has a very good compression ration with .rar and .zip files. It's perfect to share files on websites. 7z is also a very good archiver. 7z has the best compression ratio with .7z files. Some files can be compressed to 10% of their original size. IZarc is a good archiver for multiple compression formats but it lacks .rar files compression.

  • 7z is best in speed but only drawback is its security is not better as compared  to winrar, because i faced two events when my password protected 7z file doesn't ask password when i open if you want better security ,use winrar. and if you want speed and copy to and move to options use 7 zip...

  • Well I haven't tried the other file compressors, but i prefer 7-zip because it's  free (unlike win zip) and has no nag screen (unlike winrar).

  • Janyaro: Well, i prefer cabpack, if you're fighting for compression ratio, cabpack have the highest compression ratio i've ever seen, once i was trying to send a binary file of 501-kbs via MMS. But i was unable to send it because thesedays the size limit for mms was 300-kbs and i've tried almost every application to compress that file to 300 or lessthan 300kbs but i was unable to compress that file such tight, and finally i use cabpack application that results that file to 289kbs, and happily i trasfer that file again to my mobile and send it. But, there is one problem with cabinet file, it doesn't support encryption. And *.cab files can also be opened without any software, windows explorer can open a cabinet file easily. Cabinet (*.cab) files are lossless so you'll not loss the quality after extraction.

  • B1 Free Archiver, of course (though not mentioned in your list). It's absolutely free, safe and simple, works with most popular formats. You can use it on Windows, Linux, Mac and Android, it also has an online decompression tool. Try it and next time you won't have to ask what's better among those archives you've listed

  • PeaZip is the more feature rich, 7-Zip is my first love, both free and Open Source. Before 7-Zip I used PowerArchiver and sometimes still enjoy it, but in shareware probably the leader is WinRar. Anyway, choice is good, pick the one you like the most.

  • I just test pack over 700mb files.

With 7zip ulta settings package size is 174mb

With B1 maximum settings package size is 197mb

Also B1 was much slower, 7zip took only 1 minute and B1 take 3 minutes.

  • 7-Zip is the best as it has decent speeds, supports most file formats and compresses better than RAR.

  • 7-ZIP is BETTER.

It's faster than other, and it is free! I hate WinRaR because u need to pay :(

    I also try IZArc before,
