I'm bit of a webdeveloper too - firefox handles that very well and is quite nice, but the browser itself has become quite horrible with the new update (i know people will hate me for that comment) - for personal uses Google Chrome is definitely the best, many addons has found it's way to chrome.
Furthermore chrome has an the minimalistic view, sandbox properties (= harder to get vira through the browser) and fast respond time makes it superior (and it's google; the owner of the most used search engine, youtube, gmail, etc. and therefore they try to optimize for those sites with chrome)- your priorities should be:
Chrome
Firefox
...all other browsers than IE
and all the way in the buttom;
Internet explorer
Goggle Chrome, definitively. It runs the smoothest and is the most stable of the three. If you don't like its lack of smooth-scrolling, you can either switch to Mozilla Firefox (which is still quite good) or install the smooth-scrolling app for Chrome (http://tinyurl.com/GCSCA). Personally, I think Google Chrome has a better layout (I love how it handles tabs!), but sometimes I prefer Firefox because it seems more "professional", in my opinion (not that it is... or isn't).
I use Firefox and Opera I really like Opera especially for email, it different, but there are problems displaying some web pages hence keeping Firefox.
Chromium is also very good, incredibly fast especially on older slower machines.
Currently got windows 7 and good old windows2000!
NEVER surf without an Internet Protection Suite installed and updated to latest version and definitions. Chrome is most secure (only browser to survive Pwn2Own), especially with JavaScript and plugins disabled, and lightining fast on Windows 7. You can add website exceptions from the address bar as you go. Firefox with the NoScript plugin provides nearly equal protection and runs well. If you MUST use IE, use only on sites that won't open in any other browser and NEVER with sites you aren't already certain are safe. Much malware/scumware/adware installs as toolbars, and the 'legitimate' toolbars (Google, MSN, AOL etc.) spy on your browsing, intercept and redirect your searches, slow down your browser and eat screen real estate.
Operation system is window7 home premium? You should dl AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 7.5.11.9 which works in Windows 7/Vista/2003/XP
Free download it from http://www.brothersoft.com/aol-instant-messenger-(aim)-61029.html
or select any other toolbar from AOL LLC. in this page:

some websites are still catching up to IE9, Chrome is fastest but I have problems using my printer with it after syncing my printer manually in settings. FireFox 7 is ok. Opera 11 is pretty good but I hardly used it so I uninstalled. Opera Mini is good for cell phones but Dolphin HD browser (full & mini) is the best for cell phones.
Well I have three browsers in my computer:
Google Chrome- I Keep using it now but no toolbars.
Firefox- Used this a lot before but my use of it lessened and lessened co'z I don't know, I stopped using it when I got Google Chrome (I used this before Google Chrome). Also it got lots of toolbars which slowed it down (I have learned my lesson not to download lots of toolbars with some downloads I get. Also after I tried to download Chrome, every time I open the download manager of Firefox, things go slow, and it takes a minute or two to open Firefox. Luckily I got Chrome when I downloaded a game.
Internet Explorer-The worst of the worst. I used this just to download Firefox.
So... for me Firefox and Google Chrome are the best.
For all the reasons stated above, the browser to go for is Maxthon 3. It's faster than Chrome. Really. It has extensions that match the others in numbers but ate inventive in ways the others never thought of. If comes with very handy built-in tools, but if you thinik thats clutter, ,you can hide them all and use the Chrome skin. Some features you never -- rarely find on others -- split screens; the ability to tear off a video and move it somewhere else, even off Maxthon's screen; screen shot to which you can add visual annotations; notepad for capture and organizing into from different sites; password auto logon; auto-switching display engines to handle both old and the newest display standards. Lots more. check it out. ron
My vote goes to Firefox, since it's less strict than Chrome in web page test.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Chrome restrict direct local (the one the web page designed) test, you have to load the whole se to a ISP, maybe it a sales pitch urging developers to use their cloudy storage services.
Google maintains it's dangerous to do so.
Why?
Google Chrome works best. IE is the WORST (constantly crashes in mid work & loses all). Whichever you choose definitely add Abine.com 's DONOTTRACKME & Mask Me. The first one keeps EVERYONE from snooping into what you're doing online. It's FREE & boy does it work. Cut my spam to zilch. The 2nd one is also FREE and when websites demand your email it puts in a working but dead end site to keep them from selling your info. They also have another one that blocks your phone #, too.
It isn't the browser as much as the snoops that get me. Like I said, Chrome works best & yes, you can use Norton 360 with it.
you should have sr iron or comodo dragon or opera.12 beta,
firefox is good to replace all the others,
if u want to if u must use ie(which i would assume u had ur brain replaced by a cauliflower)use 8 or nine beta versions.
set the programs compatibility mode to win 2000/me/xp /98se(very good if i options areset right)
google chrome is nothing more than a crappy addition to ie it has no independant web parsing functions and every fuk up of IE imported.
email me at voodoonoffnoff@myopera.com if u want any advice or stuff to incorporate.SUBJECT LIKE THIS THO so i can see it in inbox
this reply is too late but i'm sure it'd be help you.
there're two 64-bit customized firefox versions - palemoon & waterfox. there’re 32-bit versions of them too. i've been using 64-bit versions of palemoon & waterfox (of course you've to have 64-bit os on a 64-bit processor platform). both are quite nice when it comes to webpage loading times. very fast. google chrome is definitely the fastest browser as of now but it has got its own problems of character encodings.
lot of plugins to run these browsers the way you want to. fireie - permits switching of webpages to ie within the browser window. speeddial, grab & drag, all-in-one gestures, flashblock, noscript, flash downloader, adblock plus, printedit etc. all greatly customizable.
the only drawback is that you need to have at least 4gb of ram and at least a core2duo for faster rendering of tabs because each tab is like a mini browser window.
but the final choice is yours.
