Whats the difference between Defraggler and Microsoft Defragmentation?

  • No different in the way they work.

    The only difference is with Defraggler is you see lots of different coloured blocks whizzing about and numbers counting up and down.

    Microsoft's own one is quite boring to look at really. Just solid blocks of blue, white and red that don't seem to do a lot really!

  • I think that Defaggler does a better job. When I use Microsoft defrag, it always seems to leave some data in the middle of the disk, but Defraggler keeps it all close together.

  • I think freeware is not much different from the built in program. For real improvements in defrag technology and advanced features like automatic defrag, low free space defrag and the prevention of fragmentation proactively, you need to get a commercial defragger.
