yes. AutoTune analyzes sampled sounds in Frequency space to allow you to tune all of your sounds to the same frequency! It help you to make voices perfect.

Autotune in live performance requires high skill on lip-synicing.

you would do some tricks on the mic through a vocal effects pedal.

This "AutoTune" is only a software which is useful to fix your voices and make them perfect. But you need to run autotune as a plug in through Chainer or Ableton Live.
