VLC Media Player

Click on "Media" in the top menu bar and select "Open File..." or "Open Disc..." to open the video file, DVD or Video CD in VLC media player.

Click on "Video" in the top menu bar and then click "Subtitles Track" to bring up a list of all embedded subtitle streams contained in the file or disc.

Click on the subtitle track you wish to enable.

Click on "Media" in the top menu bar and then click "Advanced Open File..." to open the "Open..." dialog window.

Click on the check-box next to "Subtitle options" to enable subtitles and then click on "Settings..." to open the subtitle options window.

Click on "Browse..." next to the "Subtitles file" box and then select your subtitle file. Click "OK" to return to the "Subtitle options" window.

Click "OK" in the "Subtitle options" window and then click "OK" in the "Open..." window to load the video and subtitle files.

Download and install a free converter program such as Prism Video Converter. This multiplatform application is available for both Windows-based PCs and Macs.

Launch your program after it has installed and click the "Add Files" button on the top. Locate the FLV file you want to convert from wherever you've stored it on your computer and click "Open" to upload it on your program.

Double-click the imported file on the source window to preview it. Select ".mp3" on the Output format window and click "Encoder Options." Select the audio quality settings and select "Stereo" for left and right sound playbacks. Select "Mono" if you prefer a one-channel playback.

Click the "Browse" button and select the destination folder where you would like to save the file after it has been converted. Click "Convert" when you are done with the customization. When the conversion is complete, launch the converted MP3 file to preview it.

Download a media converter to help you convert your FLV to MP3 . Examples of programs you can use include Format Factory and Xilisoft.

Go to the Media-Convert website. The website offers free online file conversion and supports a wide variety of file formats. Conversion happens right on the site.

Upload your FLV file to the site. Click in the "File" field at the top of the "Local File Conversion" tab. Only one file can be uploaded for conversion at a time.

Scroll down a bit to the "Output" section, where you will see two drop-down menus. Click on the second one and select "MP3" from the available options.

Click on "OK" to the right to start your conversion. It begins immediately and typically only takes a few minutes. It can take a little longer if there is a lot of site traffic.

Wait for a download link to appear on the screen. Right-click it to download the new MP3 file to your computer.

Download and install Freez FLV to MP3. This program allows you to convert FLV files that you have saved on your computer to MP3 audio. Click "Add FLV File" and select the file that you want to convert, then press "Start Converting" to create an MP3.

Visit ListenToYouTube.com to convert an FLV video from YouTube to an audio file. Paste the URL of the video into the text box and click "Go." Right-click on the MP3 to save it to your computer.

Use Vixy.net to convert FLV videos from any online source to MP3. This site also allows you to convert Flash video to other video formats, such as .mov and .avi. Paste the URL of the video into the text box and select "MP3" from the drop-down menu. Click "Start" to convert the video to MP3 audio.

Use 4Media FLV to MP4 Converter for Mac. As a video-converting program and an audio extractor, the 4Media FLV to MP4 Converter rips the audio from FLV files and allows you to set the bitrate for high-quality MP3 audio files. Convert your FLV file to MP3 by clicking the "Add" button at the top of the screen and select the FLV from the import window. Select your audio format in the Profile section and select your audio quality on the sidebar. Click the button with two arrows at the top of the program window to begin converting the video.

Use 4Easysoft Mac Flash Video Converter. Similar to 4Media's converter, the 4Easysoft Mac Flash Video Converter provides video editing and audio extraction from FLV files to your computer. The program also supports FLV to AAC and AC3 formats and is available directly on the 4Easysoft site. Click the "Add File" icon on the program window and select the FLV file to import. Click the drop-down menu next to "All Profiles" and select "Common Audio." Click the second drop-down menu and select ".mp3." Click the arrow button in the lower right corner of the program window to convert the video.

Use ImTOO Video Converter for Mac. This program encodes your FLV files into high-quality MP3 audio files and includes video editing commonly found in video software. The ImTOO Video Converter also lets you merge videos into one file, which can be converted into a single audio track. Click "Profile" on the drop-down menu and select ".mp3" as the audio format and click the Folder icon at the top of the program window to add the FLV file. Click the Record button at the top of the program window to convert the video to an MP3.

Visit a website like Freefileconvert, Media-convert or Convertfiles.com.

Click on the "Browse" button to bring up a window. Double-click on your FLV file inside of the window.

Click on the "Output Format" menu and select "extract audio only .MP3" from the list of options.

Click "Convert." Click the new link that appears to download your new MP3 version of the FLV video.

Download and install the VLC media player, then open the VLC software.

Click the "Open File" option under the "File" menu. Choose the ".flv" file that you want to convert. Click the "Stop" button when the file is finished loading. It may take some time for the full file to load.

Choose the "Wizard" option under the "File" menu. Click the radio button next to the "Transcode/Save to file" option. Click the radio button next to the "Exiting playlist item" option. Highlight the ".flv" file in the list provided.

Click the checkbox next to the "Transcode audio" option. Choose the "MP3" option from the "Codec" drop-down menu. Enter the location and name for the saved file, then click the "Finish" button to convert the file.

Open a Web browser and navigate to the Vixy website.

Paste the URL of the ".flv" file that you want to convert into the URL text box. Choose the "MP3 (audio only)" from the "Converts to:" drop-down list.

Click the "Start" button to convert the file.

Download and install the FFmpeg utility. Open a terminal window (Linux or Mac OS X) or a command prompt window (Windows).

Open FLV MP3 Converter. Click "Add Files" and choose the FLV file you want to convert. Select the pull-down menu under "Convert" and choose the super MP3 audio format, then click "Convert." The FLV file converts to an MP3 audio file.

Alternatively, launch FLV to MP3 convert. Click "Add" in the lower left side of the program window. Select the FLV file and click "OK" to add it to the list. Choose an output folder, turn the audio quality up to "Highest" by dragging the selection meter to the right, then click "Convert."

As another option, try iCool Soft FLV Converter. Click "Add Files" at the top of the program window. A browser window loads. Choose the FLV file you want to convert and click "OK." Chose the super MP3 audio format, select an output destination, then click "Convert" in the lower right corner of the screen.

Go to the website media-convert.com in your chosen web browser. Click "Choose File" and track down the Flash Video file. Choose the video file in the pop-up by clicking "OK."

Choose "FLV" as your input-video format in its drop-down menu and then select "MP3" as your target sound format in its drop-down.

Click "OK" to start the MP3 conversion. After the transfer completes, click on the audio-file link to download your MP3.

Go to mediaconverter.org .

Select "Upload a file" and locate the FLV. Afterwards, choose "MP3" as your output sound format.

Click "Start" to make your new sound file. Once the conversion completes, click on the download link to snag your MP3.

Go to Zamzar.com.

Click "Choose File" and locate the FLV. Afterwards, opt for "MP3" as your target audio format.

Give Zamzar your email address in the "E-mail" window and click "Convert." You'll soon get a message from the site containing your MP3 file.
