Open a Web browser and navigate to java.com.
Click the "Downloads" link at the top of the screen. The Java website will automatically detect your operating system and browser version and suggest the Java version best suited for your computer.
Click the "Free Java Download" button.
Click "Run" or "Install" when prompted.
Click the "Install" button to consent to the software's license agreement and continue with the installation process.
Install any optional products when prompted, then click "Next." The exact products offered vary, depending on your operating system and default browser settings. Installation of the optional products is not required for the JRE software to function correctly.
Click "Close" after the installation process completes. Java has been successfully installed on your computer.
Verify that Sun supports the operating system and the Web browser on your computer. Please see the third Resource below.
Download the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0 update in the first Resource below. Save it to your desktop or to another easy-to-remember location.
Double-click on the JRE installation file. Click "Install" after reading and accepting the licensing agreement.
Do not check any of the products presented, unless you wish to install additional software. Click "Next."
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. Click on "Close," and restart your Web browser if prompted.
Open a Web browser window and navigate to the JRE 5.0 download page.
Select your operating system from the "Platform" drop-down menu, check the box confirming your acceptance of the program's license agreement and click "Continue."
Click the link labeled "Offline Installation" and save the file to your computer when prompted.
Close any open programs.
Double-click the file you saved to your computer in the previous step to open the JRE installer program.
Click "Install" to accept the program license terms and continue the installation process.
Select any products you want to install along with the JRE by checking the corresponding boxes, then click "Next." The available products vary, depending on your operating system and default web browser. This screen may not appear at all on some systems.
Click "Close" after the installation process completes to close the installer program. Version 5 of the JRE is ready to use on your computer.
Open a Web browser window and navigate to the Java Technology Products download archive (see Resources).
Select the most current version of the JRE (e.g. "JDK/JRE - 6") from the list of options and click "Go."
Click the "Download JRE" link.
Select your operating system from the drop-down menu, check the "I agree..." box, and click "Continue."
Click the "Offline Installation" link and save the installer file to your computer when prompted.
Double-click the installer file you saved in the previous step to launch it.
Click the "Install" button to consent to the program's license agreement and begin the installation process. Depending on your operating system and default Web browser configuration, you may be presented with a list of optional products to install along with the JRE after clicking "Install." If this happens, check the box next to the name of any product you want to install, then click "Next."
Click "Close" after the installation process completes, to finalize the process.
Open a terminal window. The terminal window is found under the "Accessories" section of the "Applications" menu.
Type the command "sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list && sudo apt-get --quiet update && sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get --quiet update" to install the Medibuntu software repository.
Type the command "sudo apt-get update" to update the software repository.
Type the command "sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts" to install the Java JRE.
Type the command "Exit" to close the terminal window.
Open a Web browser and browse to Java.com. A link to the website can also be found under "Resources." Click the red "Free Java Download" button near the middle of the window.
Click the "Free Java Download" button in the confirmation window that is displayed, and save the resulting file--"JavaSetup6u20"--to the desktop.
Launch "JavaSetup6u20" to begin the installation. Depending on your computer's security settings, a prompt may appear asking for your permission to make changes to the computer. Click "Continue."
Click "Install" when the "Welcome to Java" window appears. A new window opens asking if you would like to install the Bing Toolbar for your Web browser. Remove the check from the box at the bottom of the window if you do not want to install it, then click "Next." The Java Runtime Environment begins installing.
Click the "Close" button when you see the confirmation window stating that "You have successfully installed Java." The Java Runtime Environment installation is complete.
Click "Applications," "System Tools," "Terminal."
Type "su yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk" without quotes. Press "Enter."
Type your root password and press "Enter" when prompted. This is required to make changes to the system and install the Java Runtime Environment.
Open Oracle's Java download website in your web browser.
Click the "Free Java Download" button on the web page.
Read the Java license agreement by clicking the "End-User License Agreement" link, then download Java by clicking "Agree and Start Free Download."
Save the Java installer to your computer by clicking "Save" in your web browser.
Start the Java installer by double-clicking the downloaded .exe file on your computer, for example, "jre-6u22-windows-i586-iftw-rv.exe."
Click "Yes" if the User Account Control prompt appears.
Click "Install" in the welcome window. Java installs automatically, with no user input required.
Click "Close" after Java is finished installing.
Restart any running web browsers by closing all their windows and re-opening them. Web browser won't use the Java browser plug-in until they're restarted.
Click the "Download" button on the Microsoft page provided in the Resource section.
Click "Save" in the window that appears. The download will begin.
Open the "dotnetfx35setup.exe" file once the download completes.
Click the "Run" button when the security warning window appears after opening the file. The setup will extract and load the installation components, which may take a minute or two.
Read the rights and restrictions in the license terms. When you are ready to proceed with the installation, click the circle next to "I have read and accept the terms of the license agreement."
Click the "Install" button to begin the installation. The installer will download additional files, and an estimated download time will be displayed according to your Internet connection speed.
Wait for the installation to complete, which can take several minutes.
Click the "Exit" button once the installation has finished. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 has now been successfully installed.
Open your Web browser and navigate to the location of the Microsoft .NET download files.
Click the "Download Now" button to download the files. In the zipped file downloaded, double-click the "install.msi" package. This starts a short wizard that helps you install the software.
Select "I agree" in the license screen and click "Next." Click the "Browse" button to select the location for the installation files. Click "Next" again. The .NET installation performs several checks to ensure your system has the minimal requirements.
Click "Install" on the final window. After the installation completes, reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
Log in to a computer for which you have administrative rights (like your personal desktop/laptop).
Plug in an external storage device (e.g., USB flash drive or portable hard drive) into one of the open USB ports of your computer.
Open your web browser and navigate to Java SE website (see Resources). Click the "Download" button underneath "Download Java SE Development Kit 6u21."
Choose "Save" when the download dialog box pops up. Browse to navigate to a secured location to save the installer file.
Navigate to the location where you saved the installer file. Double-click the file to start the installation wizard. Click "Accept" to proceed.
Choose "Don't install this feature now" next to "Source Code," "Public JRE" and "Java DB."
Hit "Change" and select your external storage device under "Look in:"
Choose "Create New Folder" and name it "JDK." Single-click to select the folder and hit "OK."
Select "Next" to proceed.
Click the "Start" menu and select "All Programs." Click "Accessories" and select "Notepad."
Paste the following two separate lines without the quotes in the Notepad:
"set Path=%~d0\JDK\bin;%PATH%"
"cmd"
Click "File" and select "Save as..." Browse to locate your external storage device as the destination location. Type "RunMeForJava.bat" as the file name and hit the "Save" button.
Plug your external storage device into the computer where you do not have administrative rights.
Browse to navigate to "Computer" and double-click your external storage device.
Double-click "RunMeForJava.bat." This will open a new command prompt window.
Type "javac." You are now ready to browse interactive and flash content on this computer.
Go to the Microsoft Download Center Web page and click either "X86 Redist Package" (32-bit Windows) or "X64 Redist Package" (64-bit Windows) under "Instructions." Click "Save" in the confirmation pop-up, browse to your desktop and click "Save" again to begin the download.
Double-click the saved file once you are offline and ready to install the package. This will start the installation wizard.
Click "Install" in the installation wizard to begin the process.
Click "Finished" when prompted by the wizard at the end of installation.
