Open the window you want to capture. Capture images from web browsers or from other windows such as error dialog boxes, email programs and more.
Follow the procedure to open SnagIt. Under the Input menu, select "Auto Scroll Window." Open the "Options" window. Specify a scroll direction.
Click the "Capture" button. Go to the window, SnagIt outlines the area in red. Move the mouse around the page to view choices. Consider the suggestions for a few different possible ways to capture areas.
Hover your mouse over the area and double-check that the correct area is outlined in red. Left "Click" to capture the window.
Return to the SnagIt program screen to edit your capture. Options include trimming the edges, shrinking or enlarging the size of the final image, alter the colors, add links or add notes. Click the "Done" button to save the capture as a file.
Know that the default hotkeys for SnagIt are "Control" "Shift" and "P" regardless of what type of capture used.
Click on "Control" "Shift" and "X" to hide the SnagIt window, regardless of the window you currently work in. This leaves the program running, but hides the window and it hides SnagIt on the taskbar at the bottom. Use the same hotkeys to unhide the program.
Use "Control" "Shift" and "R" to repeat the last capture. This is useful when using multiple screen shots. The repeat function doesn't simply make a copy of the previous image; rather it repeats the same sequence that you requested before. It remembers what window you selected or if you chose the entire screen. Hitting the repeat hotkeys will use the same preferences to capture an image.
Change the hotkeys for capturing, hiding or repeating by selecting "Options" from the top toolbar and choose "Program Preferences." This brings up a window with three tabs. Choose the tab "Hotkeys."
Select which hotkey to change by checking or un-checking the boxes for the Control, Shift and Alt buttons. Change the default letter key to another letter, number or one of the function keys. Clicking "OK" saves the changes or click "Default" to restore back to the settings described above.
Open SnagIt.
Select a capture profile from the "Basic Capture Profiles" presented in the various windows on the screen.
Drop down to "Output" under the "Capture Settings" heading.
Choose an output setting from the list provided. This tells SnagIt where to send the content it captures.
Change your capture settings at any time by making different selections from the "Basic Capture Profiles" and the "Output" options.
Open the program. A message center may pop up offering updates or additional downloads, but most of the time you can just skip this and head right into the program.
Look at the bottom right-hand corner of the program. There will be a large red circle with a picture in it. The camera is “Still Mode,” the large T is “Text Mode,” the Film strip is “Video mode” and the World is “Web Mode.” Click on the arrow next to the red button and select the picture of the camera from the drop-down menu.
Select one of the capturing profiles. The easiest to choose is the “Region profile.” This allows you to select any section of your screen. Click onto the “Region Profile” and then press the Red button in the bottom right-hand corner.
Wait until the Snag It screen disappears and a small magnified view of your desktop appears in the upper left-hand corner. Click on and hold the left mouse button to start the region capture.
Drag your mouse across the area that you wish to capture. A small red box will appear over the area that you want captured. Press the “ESC” key to cancel the capture or let go of the mouse to complete it.
Crop and edit your capture in the Snag It capture preview. Use the tools on the left to further enhance the capture and those on the top toolbar to save or send your capture. Press the “X” button in the top right-hand corner to cancel the capture.
Press the arrow once again to switch to the Video Capture. The Video Capture is great for computer tutorials. Select the regional setting and then press the large red button of the film strip.
Highlight the selected area that you want recorded by clicking the left mouse button, dragging and letting go. A pop-up box will display the video properties. Press the “Start” button in this box to start the capture. Press the “Print Screen” button to end the recording.

Click "Properties" next to the Output setting in the Snagit printer settings screen. Choose the output file format in the "Image File" tab.
Select the "Program" tab and choose which program the Snagit printer will output to. Under the "Store files in" section, choose what folder you would like output files to be saved to.
Open the program you would like to use the Snagit printer from; select the file you would like to capture multiple pages from and choose the program's print option.
Select "Snagit" from the drop-down in the Print screen. Click "Ok" to capture the pages of the file using the Snagit printer. Snagit will capture the pages of the document and save them to file.

Open the SnagIt software.
Choose which capture profile you would like to use. You may choose a "Region" profile, which will let you drag a box over the area you would like to capture, or you may choose "Window" profile, which will capture everything that is seen on your computer's screen. There is also a "Scroll" feature, which will take a shot of any vertical window, as well as video and web image capture options.
Click "Capture" and SnagIt will take a screenshot of the area you have selected.
Click "OK" if you are satisfied with the screenshot. If you are not satisfied, click "Re-Do" and try "Step 4" again.
