Generally speaking, quicktime will be the default to play songs or movies after you installed it. You might have turned this over. Here is how to make quicktime the default player for browsers.Step 1, Run Windows Media Player, type ALT+T to get the "Tools" menu, then click on Options, and then on the "File Types" tab. Uncheck mp3 and movie box.Step2, run QuickTime Player, click on the Edit menu, Preferences item, and then the Quicktime Preferences sub-item. Click on the "File Types" tab.check mp3 audio file and movie box. Also check "notify me if other applications modify these associations.Apply. Ok.Done.
Right click on any file that you want to always run on VLC,
or whatever. Go to 'Open With', then 'Choose Default Program...'. Tick
the 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' box,
then select the program you want to use as default, and click 'OK'.
You might have to do that for every type of file, ie. for .mp3, .wma., .wmv, etc.
Instead of clicking on the link to open the file and play it in quicktime, simply right click on it instead and select "Save Target As" and then simply save the sound.
To edit video with final cut pro, you will need to convert your video to dv format. I use Bigasoft total video converter to convert quicktime video to dv for edit with windows movie maker. It works like a charm.
