1) Don't use partition magic

2) It is storage space. Not memory

3) Right click My Computer and select "Manage"

4) Click on Disk Management

5) If you see "unallocated" in a block of that size then you can partition it again. If you only see the used partition for all of C then you can try partition magic but it isn't the safest way to do it.

Partition Logic is a self-contained CD image with its own operating system (Visopsys) included on the disc.  It is not installed as a Windows (or Mac or Linux) program as such -- instead it is written to a blank CD from which your computer can be booted to perform the desired partitioning, resizing, etc.

For this reason it doesn't matter which operating system you've got; Partition Logic should work for you as long as you've got a PC-compatible computer.

Partition Logic is distributed as a compressed 'zip' file.  The zip file contains just the CD image with an .iso file extension (it is zipped so that it's a smaller download -- about half the size of the uncompressed ISO).

The installation process consists of unzipping the ISO file, and then burning it to a CD using your favorite burning application, but is not burned in the same way as normal data files; your burning application must typically be instructed to burn from a disc image.

ImgBurn is a fantastic Windows utility for burning and ripping CD and DVD images (don't forget to send them a donation if you like it).  Another good, free Windows application is the ISO Recorder.

Partition logic has the following limitations:

   Does not work with some SATA hard disks

   No hardware support for non-USB SCSI hard disks

   No support for Sun or BSD disk labels.

   Cannot format partitions as NTFS or EXT3.

   Cannot resize FAT or EXT filesystems.

   No hardware support for serial mice

   No hardware support for PCMCIA

These limitations are intended to be fixed in future releases.

Partition Logic supports most basic PC hardware without any additional work or configuration.  It has very modest (by today's standards) requirements:

   Pentium-class or better x86 processor. Supports all modern Intel x86 and AMD processors.

   32 megabytes RAM memory (16 megabytes if operating in text mode).

   IDE (ATA) hard disks for partitioning.

   IDE (ATAPI) CD-ROM drive, if booting from the CD version.

   Standard PC floppy disk, if booting from the floppy disk version.

   For graphics mode, a VESA 2-compatible graphics card with linear frame buffer support.

   USB or PS/2-syle keyboard.

   USB or PS/2-style mouse, if operating in graphics mode.

Partition Logic is a free hard disk partitioning and data management tool. It can create, delete, erase, format, defragment, resize, copy, and move partitions and modify their attributes. It can copy entire hard disks from one to another.

Partition Logic is free software, available under the terms of the GNU General Public License.  It is based on the Visopsys operating system.  It boots from a CD or floppy disk and runs as a standalone system, independent of your regular operating system.

Partition Logic is intended to become a free alternative to such commercial programs as Partition Magic, Drive Image, and Norton Ghost.
