Click the "Start" button located on the bottom left of the task bar of your computer.
Scroll to "Control Panel" and click on it. If you cannot locate the Control Panel for any reason, type "Control Panel" in the search window below the "All Programs" button.
Once the Control Panel window opens up displaying various control menus or features, click on the "Uninstall a Program" link under Programs.
Scroll down to "Symantec Antivirus" from the list of programs that open ups and click on it. Click on the popout which says "Uninstall/Change." Click on it and, depending on the version of Symantec Antivirus program you have installed on your computer, different operations such as Modify, Remove, or Repair are displayed.
Click "Remove" and then "OK." Removing the Symantec Antivirus program will take a few minutes relative to the processing power of your computer.
Open the Start menu and click "Run." Type "services.msc" and press "Enter." Look through the Services Manager window and located the entry labeled "SAVRoam."
Right-click the entry and select "Stop." Repeat the process for the entries named "Symantec AntiVirus," "Symantec AntiVirus Definition Watcher," "Symantec Event Manager" and "Symantec Settings Manager."
Close the window. Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys all at the same time to bring up the Task Manager. Navigate to the "Processes" tab.
Click the entry labeled "ccApp.exe" and then choose "End Process." End the process for the entry labeled "VPTray.exe" and then exit out of the Task Manager window.
Return to the Start menu and select the "Search" option. Type "Regedit" and then double-click the registry icon. Navigate to the registry folder "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers."
Right-click the entry named "LDVPMenu" and choose "Delete." Navigate to the registry folder "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec."
Delete the entries named "SPBBC," "Symantec AntiVirus" and "SymNetDrv." Navigate to the folder "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer."
Delete the entries labeled "UpgradeCodes\20A7FB42A06BB49448A397B3CB77ED4D," "Features\0DE336A57D5E56D4BAD835DE34152048" and "Products\0DE336A57D5E56D4BAD835DE34152048."
Navigate to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE" folder. Delete the entries "Classes\Installer\UpgradeCodes\20A7FB42A06BB49448A397B3CB77ED4D," "Classes\Installer\Features\0DE336A57D5E56D4BAD835DE34152048," "INTEL\DllUsage\VP6," "Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache\{5A633ED0-E5D7-4D65-AB8D-53ED43510284}" and "Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\0DE336A57D5E56D4BAD835DE34152048."
Navigate over to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\InstalledApps" registry folder. Delete each of the entries "AVENGEDEFS," "Common Client," "Common Client Data," "Common Client Decomposers," "NAVNT," "SAV Install Directory," "SAVCE," "SPBBC," "SymNetDrv," "VP6ClientInstalled" and "VP6UsageCount."
Go to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services" folder. Delete the entries labeled "ccEvtMgr," "ccSetMgr," "ccPwdSvc," "DefWatch," "NAVENG," "NAVEX15," "SavRoam," "SAVRT," "SAVRTPEL," "SNDSrvc," "SPBBCDrv," "SPBBCSvc," "Symantec AntiVirus," "SYMREDRV" and "SYMTDI."
Close the registry editor. Right-click the Start menu and choose "Open All Users." Click "Programs." Right-click "Symantec Antivirus" and choose "Delete."
Click on "Start," then "Control Panel."
Click on "Add / Remove Programs" twice to launch the installed programs list (Windows/Windows XP option). Double click on "Programs and Features" in Windows Vista.
Select all program names that start with "Symantec, Norton and LiveUpdate."
Click on the program name, such as "Symantec AntiVirus" or "Norton AntiVirus." Click on "Uninstall" located on the top of the "Add/Remove Programs" page.
Follow the uninstall instructions on the screen for each program. Continue going through the list and uninstalling every program associated with Symantec. Restart computer after all Symantec virus protection programs have been uninstalled.
Attain the tool. Symantec offers the tool as a download from its website (see Resources). Locate your particular Symantec software version. Click on "Save" button and select a spot on your hard drive that will hold the removal tool's executable file.
Run the Norton Tool. Double-click the tool after you find the file. Select "Run."
Accept Norton's product license agreement. Click the "Next" button, read and accept the agreement and click the "Next" button again.
Get past the Symantec security check. The number and letter combination displayed is Symantec's product security code. Copy this code as it is displayed and input it to get past the check. Click on "Next."
Remove Norton. Click on "Next" to begin the removal process. After this process is done, reboot your computer.
Turn on your computer and log in to your user account. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel." Double-click the "Programs" icon and a list of all applications currently installed on your computer's hard drive will open.
Scroll down the list of installed programs until you see Norton Antivirus. Select it and click "Remove." The program's uninstaller will open and ask you if you really wish to uninstall the program. Click "Yes" to continue with uninstalling.
Click the "Next" button and the program will be uninstalled from your computer. Click "Finish" when the uninstall is complete. Restart your computer and log in to your user account. Norton Antivirus will no longer be installed on your computer's hard drive.
Click "Start," "Control Panel" and "Programs." Look through the list of programs and find everything that says Symantec, Norton or LiveUpdate. Click "Uninstall" under each program you find, and follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall. Click "OK" to exit the "Control Panel" window.
Reboot your computer by clicking on "Start," "Shutdown" and "Restart." Click on "Start" and "Computer." Click on "C:" and click on the "Programs" folder. Right-click the Symantec Antivirus folder and select "Delete."
Click on "Start" and "Computer." Click on the "C:" and click on the "Programs" folder. Click the "Common Files" folder, right-click the "Symantec Shared" folder and select "Delete."
Download the removal tool at the Symantec website (see Resources section for link). Find the version of Norton you are currently using in the menu and click "Save," then choose a download destination for your Norton Removal Tool file.
Locate the newly downloaded file and run it by double-clicking on it and choosing the "Run" option.
Read the Norton license agreement. After you finish doing this, click "Next" to accept. Click "Next" again.
Type the Symantec security code as it appears (number and letter combination code) and click on the "Next" button to proceed to removal.
Click the "Next" button in the tool. Norton Antivirus will now undergo the removal process. To finalize the removal process, reboot your computer.
Click the "Start" button on your desktop.
Click on "Control Panel," then click on "Programs," and them "Programs and Features."
Scroll down the program list and click on "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition."
Click the "Uninstall" button that appears to remove the Corporate Antivirus program.
Turn on your computer and log in to your user account. Click "Start," then click "Control Panel" and double-click the "Programs" icon. A new window will open displaying a list of all programs installed on your computer.
Scroll down the list and select "Symantec Norton AntiVirus." Click the "Remove" button, and the program's uninstall application will launch in a new window. You will be asked if you really want to uninstall the program. Click "Yes" to continue.
Click "Next" and the uninstaller will begin deleting Symantec Norton AntiVirus from your hard drive. Wait for the uninstall to complete and then click "Finish." Restart your computer and log in to your user account.
Boot your computer and select the "Administrator" option from the Welcome screen. Log in as the administrator on the system.
Click the "Start" button and select the "Control Panel" on the right.
Go down to "Programs and Features" and click on it.
Scroll over to the section labeled "Uninstall A Program." Click on the button.
Choose the "Symantec Client" icon from the menu that appears and click the "Uninstall" button on the bottom of the screen.
Wait for the computer to remove the program and then restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
Click the "Start" button, then choose "Run." This opens the Run selection window. If using Windows Vista or 7 hold down "Windows" and "R" at the same time to load the Run window.
Type in "regedit" and press "Enter" to load the Registry Editor.
Select "HKEY_Local_Machine," "Software," "Intel," "LANDesk," "VirusProtect6," the current version of your Windows operating system, "Administrator Only" and finally "Security."
Locate "UseVPUninstallPassword." Next to it is a "1." Delete the 1 and change it to "0."
Exit the registry and launch the "Add or Remove Programs" (or "Installed Programs") from the Control Panel. Select the Symantec Norton AntiVirus and click "Remove," then wait for the uninstall wizard to load. When prompted, type in "symantec" for the uninstall password. The program now allows you to remove it from the system.
Press "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete" to open the Task Manager. Click the "Processes" tab. Click on the "Symantec Mail Security" process in the list and click "End Process."
Click "Start" and select the "Control Panel" option. Click on the "Programs" icon and choose "Programs and Features." A pop-up window will appear that displays a list of the programs installed on the computer.
Scroll through the list to the "Symantec" or "Symantec Mail Security" filename. Click on the "Uninstall" button at the top of the list to open the Uninstaller. Enter in the log-in credentials for an administrator account if requested by the system.
Click "Next" in the uninstaller welcome window. Either choose "Remove All" or select the option to remove only the Mail Security program, if you have other Symantec programs installed on your computer. The uninstaller will begin removing the system files from the computer.
Close the uninstaller window and return to the desktop. Restart the computer to save the changes you made to the computer's settings and configuration.
Log into your computer network as an administrator from the boot menu that appears when you turn on the computer. Choose the "Administrator" account from the login screen and enter your password.
Click the "Start" menu and then click on the "Control Panel" tab.
Go to the "Programs" tab and then go down to the "Programs and Features" icon. Click on it and select the Symantec Corporate icon from the list that appears.
Click "Uninstall" and wait for the system to uninstall the program.
Restart your computer.
