IrfanView

1. If you haven't already, install IrfanView.
2. Put some thought into what you want to do. Some of the things that you can do with it are:
3. Resize images
4. Crop your images
5. Add text to your images
6. Make slideshows. You make an executable file so that you can send it to others. Be sure that they are aware that you will be sending them an *.EXE or they will think it is a virus.
7. Look at your images. You can do this with thumbnails, or by clicking on the arrows and going from one to the next one.
8. Delete unwanted images. You can do this by pressing Delete on your keyboard or clicking on the red X on the toolbar.
9. Save the images. Remember that whenever you edit an image, you need to save it. If you move away from the image, the changes are lost.

1. Create a folder so that all of the images that you will want to create a webpage for are in one place.
2. Open up IrfanView. If you don't use an image to open it up, you will see what you see in the screenshot.
3. Press 'T' on the keyboard and you will open up the thumbnail part of the program.
4. Navigate to the desired folder. Here it is called 'Upload Files'.
5. Adjust the side of the screen so that it has the layout you want...2 wide...3 wide...4 wide, etc. Once you have done that, CTRL A (select all).
6. Right click the images and choose 'Save Selected Thumbs as HTML File...'.
7. In the dialog box that comes up, put your parameters that you want to change. You might want to change the destination folder and the name of the resulting page.
   • Be sure to have a folder for them to go into. In the example, they are set to go to the desktop, without a folder, they will be scattered among your other desktop icons.
8. Find the file that will be the 'Index' page for your upload. In this article, it is called Irfanview. You see the problem with not having a specific folder for them to go into. They are all over the desktop.
9. Make sure that it looks like you want it to.
   • If you want to edit that page, usually it is atC:\Program Files\IrfanView\Html\, unless you put it elsewhere. Be sure that you have some idea about how to edit HTML.
10. Using your FTP software, upload it to your website. This works for your own site, but not for sites like Flickr or Mpix.

To Create the Screenshot:

Open up Irfanview once you have copied your screenshot.

You can do this by:

• Clicking on the clipboard in the toolbar,
• Click on 'Edit' and then 'Paste',
• Press CTRL 'V'

Note that you will have your entire screen showing in Irfanview.

Make a selection. Irfanview's default option is to make a selection. Using your mouse, select the part that you wish to show in your article.

Crop the selection once the image is selected. You can do this by:

• CTRL 'Y'
• Click on 'Edit' and then 'Crop Selection'

Ensure that the image is an appropriate size. You don't want the image to be enormous and take up the whole screen. That is annoying to your reader and takes up a large amount of space. To do this:

Press CTRL 'R' Resize screen for Irfanview Click on 'Image', then 'Resize/Resample'. 

You can select a size on the left hand side of the dialog box or click on some 'pre-sized' options on the right. It is good to have it no larger than 800. 

This is a good size for most people's compute screens.

Note: Just because it says 800X600 doesn't mean that no matter what, your image will be the size. That could possibly ruin the proportion of your screenshot. It means it will be 800 pixels wide and as close as it can get to 600 pixels tall without being out of proportion.

Save the image. Once you have the shot you want, and the size you want, you want to save it. To do this,

• Type 'S' (Save As)
• Press CTRL 'S' (Save)
• Click on 'File' then 'Save' or 'Save As'

Note: Be sure to put it someplace that is convenient, like a folder for screenshots or your desktop.

1. Install IrfanView. It's very easy to install and begin using.
2. Open up IrfanView and look at its screen. This screenshot has another screenshot in it.
3. Look at the options that you have.
   • Make screenshots.
   • Share your images online.
   • Reduce your image size.
   • Create a slideshow

1. If you don't have it already, Install IrfanView.
2. Image:IrfanView resizing.jpgOpen up IrfanView and open up the image you want to resize. The one in this screenshot is 3008 X 2000.
3. Crop your image, if you need to, first. That way, what you are trying to focus on isn't lot in the end result. This image is 1483 X 1339.
4. Resize the image. If it isn't the size that you want, you can make it even smaller (or larger). Save your image. You want to save it, because if you make changes and then go to your next image, the changes will be lost. If you want to keep the original file without change, then use 'Save As...'.

1. Open your image in IrfanView.
2. Click on File >> Print.or CTRL P. This will bring you to the Print Preview screen.
3. Choose the correct printer. The above screenshot has a PDF driver as the chosen printer.
4. Go to Print Size. Click the various radio buttons to see what your image will look like. You will see what it looks like at the upper right hand part of the screen. This screenshot shows what the Best Fit to Page would look like.
5. Keep in mind that the quality of your printed image will depend on the size of your original image.
6. Set all of your options for what you need. You can name your image, increase/change its size, or add text to your image.

1. Go to the IrfanView download site. There you will see the many functions that IrfanView can do.
2. Click on Download. On the left side of the screen, you will see a Download link. This will take you to a series of links where you can download the executable file from.
3. Download the file.
4. Download the plugin file. That plugin allows you to view many other file types, to include RAW files from digital cameras.

1. Download and install IrfanView.
2. Run IrfanView. Click File > Open.
3. Browse to the photo you wish to shrink.
4. Left-click the name of the photo to select it.
5. Click the Open button. The photo will appear in the IrfanView window.
6. To reduce the dimensions of the photo, click Image > Resize/Resample.
7. Select the options you prefer and click OK.
8. To reduce the quality of a .JPG image without changing its dimensions, click File > Save As and select JPG - JPEG Files from the drop-down list. Click the Options button and use the slide bar to select a lower image quality. This will reduce the disk space used by the photo.
9. After altering the image, click File > Save As and select a new file name. Click the Save button to create the new image.

3. Image:IrfanView adding images.jpgAdd images for your slideshow. In the upper right hand corner of the dialog, you will see 'Look in'. Navigate to the folder (or folders) where your images are. Holding down CTRL, click on the images that you want to add.
4. Select 'Add'. Once you have the files you want, click on Add and then move to another folder if you want.
5. Play the slideshow. If you want to make sure that it is what what you want it to be click Play Now. If you want to escape during the slideshow at any time, hit ESC.
   • This will take you back to IrfanView, but don't worry, your selected images will still be there.
6. Create the slideshow. Create and save the slideshow by choosing the appropriate options.
7. Tell the computer where you want to save it and what you want to call it.

1. Run IrfanView. Double click the Icon of IrfanView to start the program.
2. Open the Panorama Image window: Click “Image> Create Panorama Image…” to Open the Panorama image window.
3. Select the direction: There are two directions to select-Horizontal and Vertical. You may choose any one that you need.
4. Add Images: Click “Add images” to add your pictures from this dialogue box.
5. Adjust images: You can click “Remove Images” to delete images, click “Sort images” to list the image by some rule that you need. You can move some images up or down by clicking “Move images up” or “Move images down”.
6. Tick “Insert file name into image” if you want to put the file name into the image.
7. Type the size of space and choose the space color here if you want to add space between images.
8. Create image: Click “Create Image” button, the panorama image will be created and shown in the IrfanViewer.

1. Open up your image in IrfanView.
2. Click on Image >> Information (or I)
3. Look at the image properties.
4. Click on Exif Info. This will bring up all of the exif information saved in the camera.
5. Scroll down to the bottom of all of the Exif data.
6. Notice that in IrfanView it is called 'Total Pictures'.
7. Be aware that the image may not have the data required to get the count.

1. If you don't have IrfanView, install it. Be sure you also have the extra plugin file. You will need it to broaden IrfanView's abilities.
2. Open IrfanView. Once you have opened it, press T. This will bring you to the IrfanView thumbnail screen.
3. Navigate to the folder that contains the files that you want to convert.
4. Select the files that you want to convert. They don't have to be contiguous. Press down CTRL and select the ones that you want to convert.
5. Select F2. This will bring up the conversion dialog screen. Alternatively, you can right click on the screen and select Start Batch Dialog with Selected Files...
6. Make the appropriate changes. You will want to make the following choices:
   • Choose whether to convert, rename, or both
   • Rename the files
   • Choose the appropriate destination
7. Select Start Batch.
8. Delete the source files. If you don't delete them, you will have duplicates.
