Download and install the latest drivers for your M-Audio microphone.
Open Adobe Audition and select "Edit" then "Audio Hardware Setup" from the main menu.
Select the "Edit View" tab from the Audio Hardware Setup window.
Select the "M-Audio USB ASIO" driver from the Audio Driver pull-down menu and click the "OK" button.
Select the "Multitrack View" tab from the Audio Hardware Setup window.
Select the "M-Audio USB ASIO" driver from the Audio Driver pull-down menu and click the "OK" button. You will now be able to record using the M-Audio microphone in both edit and multi-track modes of Adobe Audition.
