  • Simply press "S" where you want the split to start. Then press "S" again where you want the split to end. Then you will be left with a tiny portion of your video. Right click it and press delete. You will now have a gap between your video, because you 'split it'. Just connect them.

  • Click on the clip about where you want to split it, then drag the cursor until you have it in the exact right spot. Hit "s" to split the clip. You can then drag clips around and rearrange them. You can also click on a section and hit "delete" to get rid of it.

  • In VidCap (the capture utility), do you have "Scene Detection" (Options > Prefs > Capture > select the first option) enabled?
This splits the tape into segments based on the record button being activated.
Please note that the camcorder's internal clock must be set for this option to work.
Apologies if this isn't what you're looking for.

  • Really simple, just move the indicator to the point in the movie where you want it split, then on the keyboard, press the letter 'S'
Also you can press play and watch the video and press 'S' while it is playing
