Open your Web browser and navigate to the Java website.
Click the "Free Java Download" link.
Click the "All Java Downloads" link.
Click the link labeled "Windows 7/XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008 Offline." Be careful not to confuse this link with the adjacent "Online" option.
Save the JRE setup program to your desktop when prompted by your browser.
Close all open programs and Web browser windows.
Double-click the icon of the JRE setup program you downloaded to your desktop.
Click "Install."
Check the box next to the name of any optional software (e.g., Yahoo Toolbar) that you want to install in addition to the JRE. Leave the box blank if you do not want to install this software.
Click "Next" to start the installation process.
Click "Close" after installation completes to close the setup program.
