  • Linking to the Movie in PowerPoint
    1. Start Microsoft PowerPoint and maximize the program by clicking the square button at the top right corner of the program, left of the "X."

    2. Click on the "Insert" tab near the top of the screen.

    3. Click on the "Hyperlink" button. A box will open that says "Edit Hyperlink" at the top.

    4. Click on the box that says "Existing File or Web Page" on the left corner of the "Edit Hyperlink" box.

    5. Locate the "address" textbox and enter in the location of the movie. If the movie file is on the Internet, enter the URL. If the movie file is stored on your computer, type the location or use the interface above to browse for the movie file.

    6. Enter the title of the link or movie in the "Text to display" textbox if you wish.

    7. Click the "OK" button.

    8. Test the link by beginning the slideshow, bringing up the slide with the QuickTime movie link and clicking on the hyperlink.

    Convert MOV to AVI
    1. Download a MOV to AVI converter, such as Leawo MOV to AVI Converter .

    2. Launch the converter and click "Add" to import your MOV files into the program, or simply drag them in.

    3. Double-click the file name to have a preview, and then choose "Xvid Movie(*.avi)" in the "Profile" selection box.

    4. Adjust the movie settings to your liking.

    5. Click "Convert" in the bottom right to start the conversion from MOV to AVI.

    Insert the AVI Into PowerPoint
    1. Start PowerPoint and open the PowerPoint presentation that you would like to play the movie inside.

    2. On the "View" menu, point to "Toolbars" and then click "Control Toolbox" if it is not already selected.

    3. In the Control Toolbox, click "More Controls."

    4. In the list of controls, click "Windows Media Player."

    5. Draw a box by using your mouse pointer to create a Windows Media Player control.

    6. Select the Windows Media Player video you would like to insert into your PowerPoint presentation.

    7. Click "OK" and preview the presentation to ensure that your video plays correctly.
