  • I have the same problem. Did a reinstall of XP home and then upgraded to Office 2007 (and very sorry I did).  Somewhere in the process, my outlook express window is devoid of everything except the latest incoming messages.  I've been through the menus and found no option to either show or not show the folders (i.e. sent, drafts, trash, etc.) I noted similar questions, but they seem to pertain to loosing existing stores of email, either incoming or outgoing.  I'm looking for the folder structure itself.

  • What backup utility did you use? I am only familiar with OEQB.
File | Identities | Manage Identities. Is there more than one?
Still not sure what kind of reinstall you did. If you do a search as I previously showed, do you find any dbx files? Are there dbx files in the backup?
If you can't get the backup to restore, and it does have dbx files you can see, or if you find the dbx files elsewhere. you might be able to import them if Folders.dbx is included in the location.

  • If you reinstalled XP, everything that did not come with it is gone. If you did a repair/install, the files may be on the machine.
Do an advanced search and include Hidden Files and Folders. Search for: *.dbx
If you don't find anything, you are SOL. You need to back data up before a reinstall.
