    1. Download the free Google SketchUp installer from SketchUp.Google.com. Install it by double-clicking the downloaded "GoogleSketchUpWEN.exe" file on your computer and following the instructions on your screen.

    2. Open Google SketchUp by clicking "Start," selecting "All Programs," clicking the "Google SketchUp" folder and clicking the "Google SketchUp" shortcut.

    3. Click "Choose Template" in the window that appears if you want to start with a template. Scroll through the list of templates, select one by clicking it and click the "Start Using SketchUp" button to load your template. You can start with a blank project by clicking the "Start Using SketchUp" button without selecting a template first.

    4. Select the "File" menu and choose "Open" if you want to edit an existing Google SketchUp file. Browse for the Google SketchUp file on your computer and double-click it to load it in Google SketchUp.

    5. Add premade models to your project by clicking the "File" menu, pointing to "3-D Warehouse" and selecting "Get Models." Search for a model on the Google 3-D Warehouse page that appears, click it to select it, select the "Download Model" button and choose "Yes" to add it to your project. Position the model in the project with the mouse and click to place it.

    6. Select the "Tools" menu and click "Select" to use the Select Tool. Click objects in the project to select them, and right-click them to access a menu. You can edit, erase or lock an object from this menu.

    7. Click the "Tools" menu and choose "Move," "Rotate" or "Scale" to modify the selected object. Use the mouse on the object to modify it after selecting a tool.

    8. Click the "Draw" menu and select "Line," "Arc," "Freehand," "Rectangle," "Shape" or "Polygon." to draw a line or object in the project. Select with the mouse on the project to use your selected draw tool.

    9. Select the "File" menu and click "Save" to save your project as a Google SketchUp SKP file, or click the "File" menu, point to "Export" and select "3-D Model" or "2-D Graphic" to export your model as another type of file. Use the drop-down box in the save dialog to select different types of files to export to.
