  • Use the voice track wizard. just press the "Narrate timeline" button located to the movie maker timeline. After that the narration wizard will pop up and give some recording options. Once you have select the option you want you can start recording your narration and save it.

  • You should be able to record your voice with your mic and then just drag and drop it after which you scale it so that it only plays where you want it to.
Just the same as when you import music.

Windows Movie Maker does not support multi-layered video/audio editing.
But If you have a video with a sound attached to it, you can add the movie to project along with a music track.
So if have a video, the audio, and the music track seperately, I could suggest a method
    1. Open a new Movie Maker Project
    2. Add your Videos to the timeline/storyboard
    3. Add the audio recordings in the timeline
    4. Make adjustments to video and sound track
    5. Export the Video file
Now you got a video file with audio recordings together.
    1. Open up a new a Movie maker project
    2. Import the Exported Video
    3. Add the music to the timeline
    4. Adjust the volume control on the left side of the timeline to pan to audio or music
    5. Export the video
Or Do the mixing of the audio in an audio mixer like Audacity, then export the edited music and then add it to the move
or You could get a more convenient video editor like Ulead VideoStudio

  • How to do a voiceover in Windows Movie Maker:

    Configure Settings

    1. Plug a microphone into your computer's microphone jack.
    2. Click "Import Video" to view a list of your video files. Double-click one of the files to load it. A thumbnail image of the video appears in the Collection window.
    3. Drag the thumbnail to the Timeline at the bottom of Windows Move Maker.
    4. Click "Tools," and then click "Narrate Timeline" to display the Narrate Timeline panel. Click "Show More Options" to view audio options.
    5. Click the "Mute Speakers" check box to put a check mark there. Click the "Audio Input Source" drop-down box, and click "Microphone." Choose this option because you will be adding narration using your voice.
    6. Locate the "Input Level" meter, and speak into your microphone. The meter displays a vertical bar that shows your recording level. The top of the bar is red and the bottom is green. Shades of green and yellow appear between the top and bottom colors.
    7. Click the slider next to the bar, and drag it up or down to adjust the recording level. Choose a moderate setting that keeps the level indicator between the red and green zones.
    Add Narration
    1. Click the "Play" button on the Timeline, and watch the video as it plays in the video preview window. Click "Pause" when the video reaches a location where you wish to add narration. The video pauses.
    2. Click "Start Narration" and begin speaking into the microphone. The video plays as you speak.
    3. Click "Stop Narration" when you have nothing more to say. A popup window opens.
    4. Type a name for the audio file you generated in the "File Name" text box and click "Save." Windows Movie Maker saves the file and makes it a part of the project.
    5. Press "Ctrl" and "P" as you normally do to start the wizard that helps you save your movie.
