How to delete the recently closed tab?

07/19/2011 08:58 by jvanhorn

Google chrome has a recently closed tab. Even if I delete my history it’s still there. How to delete sites listed on the recently closed tab? I want to keep it to myself. Any help?

  • Press Ctrl + H to open the history, or open site directly: chrome://history/

Then press edit items. Check tabs you want to delete from the history.

  • At the right corner, you'll see a tool button, click it. Go to history, choose and delete.

  • The best thing to do is to open many more tabs and close them so that the ones you want to hide won't be "recent". Currently the recently closed tabs carries about 10 items.

  • Even if you clear history and clear browsing data (say, for the most recent hour) the History tab will still show "settings" as the most recently closed window.

  • Yes I found that as well but at least for other tabs, if you clear "for last hour" it's a bit better than "since beginning of time" and losing all history just to remove a tab.

ie. I visited, then cleared it in history.

for good measure, I closed google, reopend it, but there it was,, still in recently closed tabs, although gone from history.

Google is advertised as being simple..ok, well it certainly is!

  • Restart chrome TWICE. That will erase the list (just don't visit ANY websites before the 2nd restart or you will have to restart.
