Sign into your account on Pidgin. Make sure that logging is enabled, so that you can save and view conversations with other users. To enable logging, click "Tools" on the top toolbar and select "Preferences." The "Preferences" window will pop up. Select the tab on the "Preferences" menu that says "Logging." From here you can choose to view your logs in Plain Text or HTML, and you can choose what conversations or status updates you'd like to save. Click the boxes of your choice, then select "Close." Your selections will automatically save.
Access your logs by right-clicking on a friend's user name. Select "View Log." This will open up a new window with all of the conversations, chats and/or status updates between you and the selected user by date and time. If a window pops up that says "No logs were found" when you right-click and select "View Log," that means you don't have logging enabled.
Delete any logs that by right-clicking a conversation. When a window pops up that says "Delete log?" select "Delete." This will remove the conversation permanently from your log, but it won't delete the conversations from the history of your other instant message programs, just the conversations typed on Pidgin.
