    1. If you are using Windows Vista, click the “Start” button. In the “Start Search” box, type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ . If you are using Windows XP or Windows 2000, go to Step 3.
    2. In the left-hand side of the "Start" menu, look for the folder that ends in “default.” Then skip the next two steps and go to Step 5.
    3. If you are using Windows XP or Windows 2000, click the “Start” button, and then click on “Run.” Where it says “Open,” type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
    4. Click “OK.” In the folder that opens, look for the folder that ends in “default.”
    5. Double-click on the folder that ends in “default.” Look for a file called “persdict.dat.” If you don't see the file, try closing and reopening Firefox.
    6. Double-click on "persdict.dat." You will get a warning pop-up. Ignore the warning and click the “Open with” button. Chose “Select the program from a list.” Then choose “WordPad” and click “OK.” If you don't have WordPad on your computer, pick another text editor.
    7. Find the word or words you want to remove, and delete them (delete the entire line they are on). When you are done editing, click “File” in the top left, and select “Save.” Then close the file.
