How do you manage and or play audio in aimp3 with large collections?

07/19/2011 03:42 by MikeChin

Ok so it seems there was some really odd decision for Aimp3 to split the audio library player from the main audio player. So what is the best way to play audio in the main player? I want the EQ, DSP effects of the main player but really NEED the audio library feature to display my audio in a nice fashion so I can easily pick the audio i want to play.

  • Try drag&drop, or the context menu from right click on music in library. Maybe it`s not so comfortable, but you will get used to do this way.

  • Right clicking and selecting play in Aimp3 worked
Only issue is the library freezes up alot but I guess that's what beta's are for. Also the ID tag mechanism in the beta is hosed up. In aimp2 it catalogs my library perfectly int he beta it misses a lot of albums and messes up track placement etc.

  • I hate it!! Why did they have to so horribly break it?! Why can't I just double-click on the song in the Library and have it play in the main window?! Why doesn't the Library player use the DFX extension?! WHY THE HELL ISN'T THERE A PREFERENCE TO TOGGLE THIS BEHAVIOR, AT THE VERY LEAST?!

Way to massively mess up the best player I've ever used.

  • I am really missing the last version now as well. I updated a few days ago, and over half my library doesn't show up anymore. No amount of dragging and dropping will allow me to add *any* music to the library. The scan & add is almost no help either.

  • The split really sucks ... Files I start in the Library play in a different player than files I start from the file-explorer. So AIMP3 keeps 2 songs playing at the same time ... this for sure was a change to the worse!

  • It's the only reason why I'm still using Winamp.
