How do you burn a regular MP4 file to a DVD using Nero?

07/20/2011 05:34 by JohnEverard

I have converted a youtube video into MP4 format and i want to burn it onto a DVD using Nero Startsmart Essentials. Everytime i go to add the video file to Nero it says that i need them in a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder. How do i separate the .bup's, .vob's, and .ifo's into the VIDEO_TS folder. Right now it is just an MP4 video file. PLEASE HELP.

  • Sorry to hear that.I always use ConvertXtoDVD,it has no any problems:
It supports most video and audio formats for video conversion (avi, mpg, mov, wmv, mkv, ogm and more),You also can create DVD Menu and add subtitles(SRT, .SUB/IDX, .SSA) to DVD. It can create NTSC DVD and PAL DVD with high quality.

  • To burn a regular MP4 file to a DVD using Nero:

    1. Open the Nero Vision DVD-authoring program on your computer. You can do this by either clicking on the icon on your desktop or clicking on the Start Menu and choosing Nero Vision from your list of programs.
    2. Insert a blank DVD into your computer's DVD-Rom drive.
    3. Start a new project by clicking "Data" in the Nero Vision window. Choose "Data Disc" from the list of available DVD-burning options.
    4. Click the "Add" button and select the MP4 file you wish to burn to the DVD. After you have selected your file and it shows up in the window on the right side of the screen, click the "Next" button at the bottom of the screen.
    5. Click the "Burn" button. The DVD will take several minutes to burn. A window will pop up at the end indicating that your disc has finished burning. Click the "OK" button.

  • If you have a DVD player that is capaple of playing back "Data" disks than use Nero to burn the MP4 as a data disk.

If you do not, this is what you can do that works fine. Download the SUPER conversion tool. Free download it from brothersoft.

    • The program is absolutely free, donations are encouraged but not required, and the program works like a charm.
    • Use this simple program to convert your file to an AVI format using the XviD or DivX codecs if desired (Generally for encoding higher quality movies into a smaller AVI file).
    • This process makes take thirty minutes to several hours depending on the power of your CPU and video card.
    • When that is complete take the AVI file and if your Nero install came with a program called Nero Vision Express use that program to burn your AVI file to a DVD. This works in the same fashion as Nero Start Smart, just drag it to the program or browse for it where it converted to.

  • I kind of think the issue here is that a MP4 isn't a great type of filetype to be burning to a DVD, as you can see from the responses, Change to .Avi with Super - seems all answers are right on.

I find I can play Mp4's on my DVD PLAYER, not a Computer, using a Flash thumb drive if you have a USB input. There's so many ways to skin a cat!

  • Yes, VIDEO_TS folder is right video DVD foler.

If you want to play the burned DVD on DVD player, you have to convert your mp4 files to video DVD format(VIDEO_TS) then burn to a DVD disk. Why? cause most dvd players only recognize video DVD well but not recgonize MP4 format file. and Nero Startsmart Essentials can't convert mp4 format file to video DVD fromat.

So you need to use a right software to help you, you can follow me to use RZ DVD Creator.RZ DVD Creator can convert any format video files to video dvd and burn to any dvd disk(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc).

    It's easy to use:

    1. Insert a DVD disk into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator
    2. select your dvd burner drive as target folder
    3. drag and drop your mp4 format file into the software
    4. press START button

you will get a video DVD from your mp4 format files, and you can play the burned video DVD well on your DVD player. Google search and free download RZ DVD Creator.
