How do I make Adobe Acrobat Reader find words when I search for them? 07/20/2011 01:01 by Chrislo102: I am scanning chapters from a book to my computer and converting them into PDF files. The PDF file is probably an image and not made up of word in text, so it is kind of like a large photo of the pages. Such PDF files cannot be searched, you have to read them like a normal book.

Probably a scanned PDF which is actually an image. You need OCR program to extract text from image, then you can search text after that.
