  • You can use the Alt codes to type special characters Turn on the Num Lock, hold down the ALT key and type in the number using the numerical keypad of your computer.

  • You could copy and paste them from some spanish website, or try the keyboard shortcuts posted.
I don't know if the keyboard shortcuts will work in google docs. If not, just copy and paste.

  • PC or Mac?

For Mac OS X users,  Type option-e, followed by any vowel to make an accented vowel (i becomes í). Type option-n, followed by any letter (normally n) to get a tilde over it (n becomes ñ).

  • Follew the steps

1 Open an existing document through Google Docs or create a new document.

2 Place the cursor in the location where you want the symbol and click on the space. A flashing line will appear.

3 Press the "Num Lock" button on your keyboard, if Num Lock is not already on.

4 Locate the Alt-key numeric code for the accented character you want to type.

5 Hold down the Alt key and type the numbers indicated in the guide for the accented character. You must use the key pad, usually located on the right side of your keyboard.

6 Release the Alt key. Your accented character will appear in Google Docs.

  • Try this if you dont have a keyboard set up with them on as keystrokes

    1. use the Insert special characters feature

    2. copy and paste (e.g. from a special document you have set up with all the common accents in it)

    3. type them in using the ASCII codes, e.g. alt-0224 for à [with NumLock on]
