How can I stop windows messenger signing in when I want to use windows live messenger? 07/20/2011 02:59 by Chrislo102: From time to time windows messenger signs me in automatically if I am not using windows live messenger. Go to Start>Run> type this and press OK: "srvices.msc".

Now find Windows Messenger, right-click>Properties choose "Manual Start" and also choose "Stop service" it.

Click start then Run and type in msconfig. When the system configuration utillity appears click on the Startup programs tab. then find msmgs.exe in the list and click on disable. Then close the window. You will be asked whether you want to restart your pc now or later. Click restart now.

When your PC has restarted the system configuration utility dialogue box will apper click ok or check the box "Do not launch System configuration utility when Windows starts" and it shouldnt automatically sign in now.

Open the windows messenger and remove the stored password by un checking the remember my password option.

Click Tools in the Windows Messenger window.Click Options, and then click the Preferences tab.
Clear the Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts check box and Click OK.
The next time you log on to your computer, you will need to start Windows Messenger manually before you can use the program.

this was no help at all. I have all the possible history deletion options checked and still anybody that uses this computer can read the email
