I got Google Earth years ago, and updated it. Even though the old pictures still old. But it did add in new pictures. Although pictures are not perfect, we could still enjor it.
Google Earth provides pictures. It’s like the picture that a camera took. It isn’t a camera. The developers pay more attention to pictures they haven’t than to updating pictures they have. But they still update pictures like more or less one to two years.
Google Earth streams the pictures from the internet as you are using the
program. If you go off line it will gather the pictures from cache but
it takes a while depending on the amount of cache you choose to store
etc. So basically you get new pictures as they come. They get more
pictures about once a year I think. Those cars that drive around and
gather information for GPS etc take about 6 months before it reaches the
GPS devices that get sold in stores or as updates for example.
they use various satellites that orbit the earth, they compile million
upon millions of images to make one true earth, rather than update the
pictures they have they are more working on composing pictures of the
places they haven't, and they do actually update there pictures just not
very often because it would take a hell of a lot of work.
What they have done though is bring along street view, enable this in
the bottom left task bar and you can view any street in the united
states, all the images used in street view are no more more 1-2 years
old!
