Can I recover Windows XP account by Deep Freeze

09/07/2011 01:44 by LindaRodrigues

I'm running Windows Seven Ultimate and have recently had a lot of people using my computer regularly. The problem is, they are installing programs, changing settings, defaults and so on... My question is, Is it possible to "Deep Freeze" or any other program that prevents changes and installations that will work ONLY on the GUEST account? I'd rather not have a program that I (admin account) has to disable/install/enable all the time... I'm open to any suggestions!

  • Shouldn't the guest account have minimal permissions already or did you enable extra permissions? The non-administrator accounts should be able to use, but not change anything vital (i.e. they can set a screen saver, but not add a program). I'd check your account settings and make sure everyone is using their own accounts (especially if you need accountability for actions on the computer). You may also want to tweak the local security policy to enforce complex passwords, screen saver password locks, and screen saver activation time.
