Purchase, download and install Microsoft Office if you do not already have it (see Resources). Excel is a part of the Office bundle and cannot be purchased separately.
Launch Excel. Click on the "Open other" button that appears in the dialog box that opens.
Navigate to the location the UDF file on your computer. Click on the file and click "Open."
Insert the blank CD or DVD into your computer's disc drive and dismiss the "Auto Play" window that opens. Launch Nero Burning ROM.
Click on the disc format drop-down menu in the corner of the "New Compilation" interface and choose the type of disc you are burning. Click the "CD (UDF)" or "DVD (UDF)" option in the selection window below the drop-down. Click the "New" button to open the "Selection Screen."
Click on the UDF file you want to burn in the "Browser" window and drag it into the "Compilation" window on the left side.
Click on the "Burn Now" button in the bottom corner of the "Selection Screen" to start the burn process. The drive will write the UDF file to the disc and a progress bar will appear indicating the status of the burn process. The disc will be ejected once the process is complete.
Click "Start" and choose the "Computer" option. Navigate to the folder that stores the UDF file and open it.
Insert the blank CD-R into your disc drive. Wait for the disc to be recognized and the "Auto Play" window to appear. Click the "Burn files to data disc" option. The "Burn A Disc" dialog window will appear.
Specify a name for the disc in the text field, click "Show Formatting Options" and choose "Mastered." Click "Next" to format the disc and open an empty disc folder to stage the burn process.
Click on a UDF file in the "Computer" window and drag it into the empty disc folder. You can select more than one file by holding "Ctrl" while you click.
Click "Burn" to disc to begin the burning process. The drive will burn the UDFs to the CD and eject disc when the process is completed.
Purchase and download Alcohol 120%. Install the software onto your computer. Alcohol 120% provides 31 virtual drives for mounting UDF and other image files. The program adds mounting functionality to the context menus to make the process easier. Right-click on the UDF file you want to mount. Choose "Mount Image" from the list and pick a virtual drive. Alcohol 120% runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows, including Windows 7.
Install DAEMON Tools onto your computer. Start the program from the desktop or "Start" menu. Load your UDF file from the "Add Images" option in the "File" menu. Click "Actions" and choose "Mount" to mount the UDF image. Or quickly mount the file by holding the "CTRL" button and pressing the "M" button from within DAEMON Tools. When you finish using the mounted UDF file, unmount the virtual drive with the "Unmount" option in the "Actions" menu. Download the DEAMON Tools Toolbar add-on to use program features from within your web browser.
Download Virtual CloneDrive to mount disc images. This free program mounts any of your UDF files. When installing the program, check the box next to "Associate .udf files." With this option, mount any UDF files directly from Windows Explorer. Just double-click on the file and Virtual CloneDrive automatically mounts the file. Or mount the UDF file by right-clicking on the file. Hover over "Virtual CloneDrive" in the drop-down menu and choose "Mount." Choose "Unmount" when you're finished using the mounted UDF file.
Buy PowerISO and install the program on your computer. Open PowerISO from the computer's "Start" menu. Click the "Mount" button in the toolbar at the top of the PowerISO window. Hover over "Set Number of Drives" and choose "1 Drive." Click the "Mount" button again and choose "Mount Image to Drive." Navigate to your UDF file and click "Open" to mount the file. PowerISO works with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and prior Windows operating systems.
Open MagicISO and click on "New" under the "File" menu. Select "UDF CD/DVD Image" to create a UDF file.
Use the pane on the left to navigate to the files or folders you wish to put on the UDF file. Add them to the UDF file by dragging them to the pane on the right.
Click "Save" to finish your UDF file.
Open ImgBurn and click "Create image file from disc" or "Create image file from file/folders."
Select the source from the "Source" drop-down menu. If you want to copy a DVD or CD, choose your optical drive. If you want to make an image of files on your computer, choose the folder containing the files. Click "Add" to add files to the UDF image.
Click the "Browse for file" button under "Destination" and choose a file name for your UDF file. Choose a file name that ends with ".udf" and select "All files" as the "Save as type."
Click the "Build" button at the bottom of the window to create your file.
Open Nero Burning ROM and click "New" on the main window.
Choose a CD or DVD compilation type you wish on the pull-down menu that appears.
Navigate to the files you wish to add to the UDF in the "File Browser" pane that appears. Click and drag each file to the pane on the left to add it to the UDF.
Click the "Burn" icon on the toolbar to save your image file. Choose a file name and a location and click "Save." Click "OK" to finish.
Download and install a virtual-drive emulator compatible with this file type, such as MagicISO or PowerISO.
Restart your computer in order to avoid conflicts with your new virtual drive.
Run the virtual-drive program. Right click the icon in your task bar. Click "Mount Image." Find and select your .udf file. Click "Open."
Click the "Start" button or Windows logo in the left corner of the screen to open the Start menu.
Click "All Programs" and open the "Microsoft Office" folder.
Open "Microsoft Excel." Click "File" on the menu bar.
Click "Open." Locate the UDF file you wish to open. Highlight the file and click "Open."
Download and install Magic ISO Maker.
Open Magic ISO Maker.
Click "Open" from the "File" menu to locate the UDF file. A folder window appears on your screen.
Click "Open" when you find the folder you stored the UDF file.
Click the "ISO Extractor" button on the toolbar to access the ISO Extractor window. The ISO Extractor button is a folder with a green arrow in the middle.
Select the destination directories you want to extract the contents of the UDF. The destination directory is the folder where the UDF file is located after extraction.
Check the "All Files" option box in the "Extract To" window to extract all files in the UDF.
Click "OK" to extract the UDF file.
Right-click on the UDF file.
Click on "Open with."
Select the "Choose Default Program" option.
Select Microsoft Excel.
Click on "Browse" only if Microsoft Excel is not on the list. Then, search for it and click on "Open."
Click on "OK." Your UDF file will open.
Click on "File."
Click on "Save as."
Select the file extension you wish to convert the UDF file to.
Click on "Save." Your UDF has been edited.
